Project Site: Takeo
Takeo province was
selected as the focus of this project because: a) it suffers acute
food shortages during the dry season; b) there is a documented
need for farmer training; c) there are no conflicting
government/donor agency interventions currently operating; d)
extension officers in the area have not previously received
training; and, e) the DoA/DoF recommended Takeo based on their own
research. This project will also complement JICA and FAO
initiatives being implemented in different regions of the
province. All have agreed to share best practices and to
collaborate where synergies exist. Already agreed upon is that
PNSA faculty and provincial extension officers will obtain
training in fish culture through an ongoing training initiative
with JICA. This collaborative approach will be used for training
activities in Tram Kak and/or Kiri Vong districts in order to
maximize project dollars.
